The service

How It Spread is a library of viral events: cases, sourced timelines, numbers and a Spread Score. Using the site, an account or the API means you accept these terms.

Accounts

You must be 16 or older. One account per person; keep your sign-in to yourself. A Team plan covers the number of seats it was bought for.

Plans and prices

Browsing is free, and a free account opens every case’s full timeline. Pro is $19 a month billed yearly ($228) or $29 a month billed every three months ($87). Team is $29 a seat a month billed yearly, or $44 billed every three months. Prices are in US dollars, before any sales tax or VAT. There are no free trials.

A discount code takes the amount off that it states, for the period it states, and only until it expires. Codes cannot be swapped for cash or combined.

Payment

Our order process is run by our online reseller Lemon Squeezy, the merchant of record for every order. Lemon Squeezy takes the payment, adds any tax due, issues the invoice and handles returns.

Plans renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Cancel any time from Account; you keep access until the paid period ends. Refunds follow the refund policy.

The content

Cases are researched from public sources, cited on every page, and checked against those sources; cases not yet audited by a person are labelled. Scores are computed by code from the evidence, as the method describes. Nothing here is financial, legal or investment advice.

Images, posts and trailers in a case belong to their owners. They appear as previews for commentary and research, with credit and a link to the original. To correct or remove something, write to hello@howitspread.com.

Your use

Quote and cite cases freely with a link back. Do not copy the library wholesale, scrape it in bulk, resell it, republish it as a dataset or train a commercial model on it without written permission.

The API and MCP

A key belongs to the account it was issued to, and its calls count as that account’s use. Keep it secret. Pro accounts create, rotate and revoke keys in Account; a revoked key stops working at once. We may rate-limit the API and will version changes to it.

Ending

You can delete your account from Account; that also cancels any subscription. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we close a paid account for a reason that was not yours, we refund the unused time.

Liability

The service is provided as is. As far as the law allows, our liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that the law says cannot be limited.
