Do you remember the riots of 2010 when Joey Barton and fellow patriots took to the streets in faux outrage about the St George's cross in four different colours...

How it spread

Trace the origin

Nike revealed the cross before the March 21 retail release. Public criticism and a petition drew political responses. Nike and the FA kept the design. CNN reported a men’s-shirt stockout; JD later reported stronger away-shirt sales.

Documented milestone; not a measured attention peak. Some dates are known only to the week, month or year.
