How it spread

Trace the origin

An unauthorized documentary excerpt spread on YouTube, then appeared in TV comedy and creator parodies. The filmmakers licensed it, offered T-shirts and made a feature film. The clip had a reported 220 million YouTube views in a later retrospective.

Documented milestone; not a measured attention peak.
